Becoming a coach with Beachbody has seriously been THE best decision I have ever made in my life!! It has not only impacted me professionally (I have built a six figure business in less than 3 years), but also on a personal level. The income is not even why I do this! I started this just as a hobby because I hated my job and was unfulfilled. I would be happy if I made $100 a month, heck $0 and I would still do it! But, seriously I have become more confident, learned so much about myself, improved my relationships, my finances, and met THE absolute BEST friends along the way!

I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I didn’t make this decision, something I didn’t think I had the time for that scared the poop out of me. Well, actually I can but I do not want to even think about that because it is scary. I have no regrets! Well, if I had one it would be that I did not start sooner! I put it off for 3 months because I was scared and felt I didn’t have the time. I was working 80+ hours a week as the Director of Residence Life at a college, doing my master’s degree, and volunteering at church. I have NO DOUBT that being a coach is my PURPOSE in life. It is my passion and I LOVE helping others and encouraging them to grow their own business as well. When I talk to others about my experience as a coach and about the business itself, people who don’t understand can be very skeptical about it. I totally understand because a lot of people are misinformed. So I thought I would write up a blog post about the biggest misconceptions about being a coach with Beachbody that I hear along with my answers to those misconceptions.

1. I don’t have the money to be a Beachbody Coach.

Okay for reals!?! SAY WHAT?!?! This is an opportunity for you to MAKE money, not spend it! As your sponsor, my first goal is to help you cover the cost of your own products which is SUPER SIMPLE to do. You just have to help 3 people a month and I will help you do that! Then we will build up from there. I was able to earn back what I paid to start within the first month, but I was a SLOW STARTER. I am now helping my new coaches earn back what they paid within their first week or two! I have no doubt I can help you do the same. This opportunity has seriously changed my life financially: I am earning a six figure income and I have almost NO DEBT left whatsoever (just a few thousand bucks which will be paid off within the next month). If money is a concern for you, then I am sorry to say this but you are too broke to NOT do this.

 

2. I’m not a sales person.

GROSS! Me neither!! They are icky and pushy and not cool! Do you feel you are being a sales person when you tell your best friend about your favorite nail salon or restaurant? UM NO! It is perfectly natural to share something you love and feel passionate about. That is all this business is about! You are SHARING your love of the products and your experiences. You are NOT selling. I told my sponsor when I signed up the same thing and that I didn’t care if I made money. But, because I truly care about helping others and share my passions it all just clicked. I teach everyone on the team to do the same in a very non-salesy not icky way. You do earn at least 25% commission when anyone you share with purchases from your website. All I literally do is share my story and the stories of others and people just come to me asking me how to join, that easy.

3. I’m not a fitness expert.

Great! Because I’m not either. I did lose 60 lbs back in 2009, but I did not go to school for nutrition or fitness. My master’s degree is actually in higher education. You do not have to be an expert. All you need to be successful is the desire to help others. You don’t have to be a personal trainer or nutritionist. In fact, most of us are not. As a coach, I am an accountability partner, friend, and fellow warrior on the road to getting healthier. The fitness professional stuff is left to the creators of the Beachbody products and everything people need is provided in the DVDs and guides.

4. I don’t have enough time to be a coach.

Really? Do you not have 30 minutes throughout the day that you don’t have anything to do? Even if it’s 10 minutes here and there? How much time do you spend scrolling Facebook? Or watching TV? Beachbody is not a get rich quick scheme, but it does not require a lot of time. I started this when I was working 80+ hours a week, on top of doing my master’s degree and volunteering. Many of the coaches on this team also started their journey while working full-time and have later been able to quit their full-time jobs because their income with Beachbody exceeded their full-time salary. But, that was done in part-time hours. I literally only work 20 hours a week and earn a six figure income. NO WAY IN HELL I regret finding the time do this when I was working 80+ hours and I know you won’t either.

5. I’m not fit!

That is actually an advantage for you! And it doesn’t matter anyway. When I went to my first Beachbody event, I was terrified that I would look like a busted can of biscuits compared to all of the super fit people. But, I was completely wrong! Majority of coaches are not super ripped. MANY coaches are just beginning their journey. People love to follow people who are struggling through the same things or who have gone through it before. Because YOU GET IT. You have an advantage because people will see your results and come to you and ask you what you’re doing! My coach Steph started with the 21 Day Fix and within her first 30 days of the business she had at least 5-10 people a week reaching out to her asking her how they could get started with what she was doing.

6. Beachbody is one of those pyramid schemes!

This is actually the biggest misconception that I come across. Everyone complains about pyramid schemes, except for the few who actually know what they are. A pyramid scheme is actually an illegal business model that requires people to pay money to join and there is no actual product. Beachbody is a network marketing company, which is a business model that has been in existence for many decades. And just because you start first doesn’t mean you will earn all the money. You could start this and surpass me and make more money than I do. We all work as a team and help each other and the structure is really like a railroad track because you earn based on what the ENTIRE team is doing.

7. I need prior business experience!

I was definitely unqualified then, haha. This is a business and to see results you must be committed, but all we do is just share our experience more than anything else. Beachbody spends millions of dollars each year on advertising and the products are a household name. People may not know what Beachbody is, but as soon as I ask them, “you know the people who make P90X and Insanity?” they immediately know what I am talking about. You also don’t have to handle any of the products, returns, or processing because it is all done for you. So no stock piling products in your garage. Ain’t no one got time for that! I had no experience running a business when I started this and it didn’t stop me from earning a six figure income. I know it won’t stop you either.

8. Only the people that started first make any money!

This is something I mentioned earlier, but there is no limit on your earnings. The person that started before you may not even work their business, make nothing, while you could earn $50,000. You are not limited to what anyone who starts before you is earning. The only person directly related to your income is YOU. I did not get in early and I held myself back for a while. Like I said, I was a slow starter. Yet I am still earning a six  figure income.

9. But my friend tried network marketing and failed.

Most people know someone who started a network marketing company and then quit. Guess what? Quitting is not how you succeed! If you just give it one year with consistent effort (30 minutes a day, literally) you WILL see results. If I would have quit when I wasn’t seeing results, I would not be where I am today. Success doesn’t happen over night. The ones who stick it out earn an incredible income. So just learn from those around you who are successful and follow their example. There are many examples of successful coaches on my team that you can emulate, as well as myself. This is something you will have to work for and you can’t sign up and do nothing and expect money to come. But, if you sign up with the right mentor who has an established and proven system that will make a huge difference. I have helped people from other network marketing companies who “failed” at that business and have seen success quickly with my help. I work diligently on their training, mentorship, and professional development. You may be shocked at your potential when these things are available to you. It has changed my life.

My philosophy about nutrition has radically changed since I first lost weight back in 2009. I lost it by counting calories, but ate a lot of processed foods that I thought were healthy back then. I learned about clean eating a couple years ago and it has radically changed how I eat.

I honestly just recently stopped counting calories because it was taking over my whole life and became an obsession. It was not a healthy obsession either. I fully believe that we should not eat more food than we need (although I often want to because I LOVE food haha), but the calorie thing just drove me crazy.

All calories are not created equally. I could eat 5 chicken breasts for about 500 calories (I would throw up if I ate that much and could not do it, this is just an example) or I could eat 2 big cupcakes 500 calories. Which one is going to keep me fuller for longer and which has more nutritional and health benefits? I think you know the answer. icon smile 5 Tips to Overcome Binge Eating

So, my philosophy is to eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. Eat foods that make you feel good and be mindful of how each thing you eat makes you feel. If it makes you feel sluggish or sick, listen to that. It’s your body’s way of telling you what it needs to thrive. I eat clean 98% of the time, but believe in a cheat meal or a couple of treats throughout the week. Otherwise you will go insane. And like I said, I do not count calories.

I have struggled with binge eating over the last couple of years because I tried to follow too strict of diets that eliminated like everything known to mankind. So my tips to overcome binge eating would be:

  1. Don’t restrict anything from your diet unless you have a severe allergy or medical reason for you to do so
  2. Practice everything in moderation
  3. Treat YO SELF!
  4. Find a healthy replacement for when you’re craving (I love to have a coffee or drink La Croix flavored sparkling waters when I want to binge)
  5. Keep yourself busy and keep your body moving and you won’t have time to think of everything you’re craving

So it’s been a week and a half since I started 21 Day Fix and I am in LOVE just as much, if not MORE, than the first time I did it last year!!! I decided to make it a hybrid and do Turbo Fire with it because I know just how quickly HIITs burn fat. You may not think I need to lose weight, but I have about 10 lbs I would like to lose to get back to my ideal weight.

If you have been following me for a while, you know that when I first moved to Charlotte last year I struggled with binge eating. I ate my emotions and got in to a depression being in a new city. I got a lot better towards the end of 2014, but had a few smaller episodes recently due to emotions. But, luckily I have been on track! I joined a group with my church with other ladies who struggle with eating disorders. And I have also found that if I have something to replace my craving for food (like coffee, hot tea, or gum) and keep myself busy (by praying, walking, calling a friend) then I can overcome the cravings.

So hopefully some of those tips help you, too! But, I wanted to also give you peak in to what I am eating on the meal plan so that you can get some ideas. I usually have a few go to breakfasts and dinners that I rotate. Lunch is usually always Shakeology because it is so quick and easy!

Breakfast

  • Egg whites (red container) with feta (half blue container) and spinach and mushrooms (green container
  • Greek yogurt (red container) with half cup granola (yellow container) and half cup blueberries (purple container)
  • Protein pancakes using Shakeology (red container), 1 egg white (1/8 red container), 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (1/4 cup red container), 1 tbsp almond milk (not enough to count), 1 tsp baking powder, & 1/2 cup oats (yellow container)

Lunch

  • It’s always Shakeology, but here are some recipe ideas
  • Reese’s Cup: one scoop Chocolate Vegan Shakeology (red container), 1 cup almond milk (1/2 yellow container), & 2 tbsp PB (tspn container)
  • Vanilla Milkshake: one scoop Vanilla Shakeology (red container), 1 cup almond milk (1/2 yellow container), 1/2 banana (purple container), & 2 tbsp PB (tspn container)
  • Butterfinger: one scoop Chocolate Vegan Shakeology (red container), 1 cup almond milk (1/2 yellow container), 1/4 package Sugar Free Butterscotch Pudding mix (1/4 yellow container), & 2 tbsp PB (tspn container)

Snacks

  • Apple (purple container) with almonds (orange container)
  • Egg whites (enough for 1/2 red container) with turkey bacon (enough for 1/2 red container)
  • Ezekiel bread (yellow container) with 2 tbsp PB (use the other half of my blue container for this because it’s a healthy fat)

Dinner

  • Salmon (red container) with sweet potato fries (yellow container) and brussel sprouts and asparagus (two green containers)
  • Veggie burger (red container) with quinoa (yellow container) and veggie (two green containers) stir fry
  • Chicken sausage (red container) with zucchini and squash (two green containers)
  • Shredded chicken with hot sauce (red container) with feta (blue container) topped on bed of romaine lettuce with red peppers (two green containers)

Today I figured that I would share a blog post on something that I have been struggling with again recently. My cellulite had gotten much better, but for some reason lately it has reappeared. So I figured I would do something that would help all of us because 90% of women struggle with cellulite. So what causes cellulite?

  • Genetics, hormones, circulation, inflammation, fat, stress, poor diet, high alcohol consumption, & lack of exercise are what can cause cellulite

But good news! There are ways to help improve your cellulite that you can easily start doing. You will not have to buy any crazy creams, lotions, get surgery, or those weird body wraps. Here are a few tips that will help you get rid of cellulite:

  • Exercises that work your lower body (see below)
  • Drink more water
  • Certain foods – blueberries, tomatoes, watermelon, eggs, oily fish, flaxseed oil, spinach, brazil nuts, pineapple

Am I a coach? Yes! Do I love eating healthy & working out? Duh! Am I motivated to most days? For the most part, sometimes I still feel like my old 200 lb self though! Today was NOT one of those days though where i felt motivated, just being real. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, wanted to keep sleeping, was beating myself up for everything imaginable. Seriously, your mind controls everything.

But you know what? I’m SO thankful for Jesus to get me through anything, for my accountability partner, & to be a part of the online groups that I’m leading because they help keep me on track! And guess what else? None of these people I knew before, my accountability partner I didn’t know, yet they’re the most amazing group of people ever! People are losing the amount of weight I’ve lost (60 lbs) in just MONTHS, whereas it took me a little over a year because I didn’t have accountability or support. Your mind controls everything.

I took some extra time feeding my mind with positivity because we determine what thoughts come in to our minds & stay. Like Pastor Steven says, make a decision what you let in & out of your life so you don’t let certain thought patterns control your mind. I’m so thankful for my group & my Jesus today!! Your mind controls everything, feed it something positive.

Happy Thursday! I’m so excited today to tell you about an amazing promotion that Beachbody is doing for the month of November that I get to participate as a coach. We are partnering with the organization Feeding America to help feed all of those hungry people out there this holiday season. People are living in gluttony, while there are millions of people out there starving just in America alone! Happy Monday y’all! Today I have a story to share with you from my friend Jenna about how she’s transformed her life. Jenna is one of the coaches on my team & I am SO PROUD of the results she’s had so far. In my challenge groups, we are not just getting results that will only last temporarily. You will learn how to make this a lifestyle & not gain all your weight back. We are getting results that transform lives.

I did an interview with Jenna about her  journey that I would love to share with you.

First let me say that I am so excited to be featured on my sister from another mister’s blog! It truly is awesome to be recognized for my achievements! icon smile Results that Transform Lives

I will be turning 29yrs young here soon, I live in Ohio and am married to a Marine Veteran and we have 2yr old son. I absolutely love music and my son really is my life. I am now working as a Barista at Starbucks, and I love it! If I’m not at work or cleaning the house I am hanging out with my family just doing whatever. When fall and the holiday season rolls around we love to all go out and venture around different stores looking at decorations and lights!

How’d you get started on your weight loss journey?
I’ve had such a yo-yo experience with weight loss, honestly. It all started in 2003 when my Mom moved us out to Washington State. I was in my Senior year of high school, having lived in the same town since I was 3yrs old. It was a huge change! I went through a lot and it greatly affected my weight because I turned to food. I went from 150lbs in 2003 to 210lbs by 2005! I looked in the mirror one day in a size 16 pants and and XL shirt and just said, this is ridiculous! I was not used to what I saw because I had never been that big in my entire life and I was a dancer and pretty athletic. So, knowing I needed to make changes I started watching what I ate and how much I ate. Within a year I dropped to 170lbs. I stayed there for awhile, we moved back to Ohio and I lost 5lbs more!

I kept at that weight for a good while, got a job and got in to a relationship and did the ‘comfort eating’ thing, I packed on 20lbs, stayed at 185 until about 2007 and I wasn’t happy with myself so I started portion control again, dropped down to 175. Then in 2009 I met my husband, did the ‘comfort eating’ thing again and got up to 190/191, got pregnant with my son in 2010, dropped back down to 175 in the first 3 months but then by then end of my pregnancy I was back at 210!! I couldn’t believe it, but I was pregnant so I chalked it up to baby weight. I had my son and weighed myself a week after being home and was down to 185. I nursed him for 6 months and got down to 175. If you’re unaware, nursing a child burns 500cals per day, so it’s easy to gain weight when you stop, and when I didn’t nurse anymore I went back up to 189!

In June of 2012 is when I started to get serious, watched what I was eating again, tried to be more active when I could. When we moved in to our own place I started doing Zumba a couple times a week and Jillian Michaels DVDs and  I just really watched my nutrition and took my son for walks whenever I felt like it. I hit my first goal of 175 and was SO ecstatic! So then I continued to set small goals for myself, usually 5lb increments, I read more, studied more, and it all worked! I am currently sitting at 160lbs.

What has been the toughest part for you?
The toughest parts would have to be my insane sweet tooth, and my boredom eating. Believe it or not it’s hard for me to really feel like I always have something going on, even though I’m a Mom and I work; especially since my son likes to do his own thing a majority of the time. But, if there’s nothing else to do I tend to snack because then it feels like I’m doing something. And, I’ve often found that it doesn’t even have to be a physical activity, as long as your mind is busy you should be good icon smile Results that Transform Lives And, I’ve alwaaaaaays loved ice cream and Oreos! Those are 2 things I feel like I could eat non-stop, all the time if I allowed myself to!
How did you overcome that struggle?
I have just tried to be strong-willed enough to eat as best I can and watch how much I eat as well. And, I also try not to keep sweets in the house because it’s a lot harder to eat it if it’s not readily available!
What workouts have been your favorite so far?
I have actually only done a little bit of P90X and am now doing T25. I LOVE P90X Plyometrics and Ab Ripper X, just absolutely love them, not quite sure why, ha! And, T25 is an amazing workout in only 25 min, who wouldn’t want that?!

How has Beachbody helped with your journey?
I decided to become a part of the Beachbody community because I know, first hand, how much easier it is to lose weight and achieve your goals when you have solid support, and that’s what Beachbody does. It gives  you a sense of belonging, a REASON to workout because  it’s kind of like your letting more than just yourself down if you don’t achieve your goals. It just makes you want to do more overall.

How has having me as your coach helped you ?
Well, first, you’re now one of my closest friends, and a friend like you is hard to come by. And, you are open and honest and a great listener which are qualities good leaders should posses! You push us to do better, you’re constantly encouraging us as well. You actually connect with us, and you’re not a ‘boss’ who we never see or talk to. You’ve found your purpose in life, and that makes it so easy for you to help some of us find ours. icon smile Results that Transform Lives
