{Confession time!!} All right y’all time to be real!! Since I moved last month, I’ve had trouble staying motivated to workout, even though I LOVE PiYo, I would just wake up & not feel like doing anything. I also had not been eating enough & not eating the right foods.

I had been feeling so off & wondering why! Feeling bad about myself. Then was like “oh snap, Jess you haven’t been taking great care of yourself.” And that’s why I wasn’t motivated to workout!

So since I don’t enjoy calorie counting, I decided to take out my 21 Day Fix containers & start measuring my portions & getting the right foods in.

Well that’s only been 4 days I have more energy, my clothes are feeling looser, & my abs are already coming back out! Abs aren’t the most important thing for me, but I measure myself based on NON scale victories. I actually have no clue how much I weigh, I threw out my scale (so freeing!).

I also feel motivated again to workout, so motivated I decided to throw in P90X3 in with my PiYo because I had such amazing results leaning out with it earlier this year.

So I say all that to say, thank you Jesus for these amazing programs! And that we all get off sometimes and that’s okay. Don’t beat yourself up. Figure out what you can tweak to fix it and move on. Progress not perfection peeps!

As I mentioned the other day on Facebook, I had  an off week last week with my eating. I had some left over snacks from a girls night at my apartment that I wouldn’t normally keep here. I had a snack attack several nights this week & missed my workout yesterday. But, it’s all about progress not perfection.But instead of beating myself up, I focused on how far I’ve come & the healing God is giving me. If this would’ve been me just a few months ago, I would’ve been on my bathroom floor crying & probably with a spoon & a jar of cookie butter (it’s like crack, don’t buy it). Again, progress not perfection!

But this week I instead accepted the fact that I was human & celebrated the fact that it was only half a jar of peanut butter I consumed (that’s a lot I know, but I’m just being real). And I got right back to eating healthy on a Saturday out of all days! Strive for progress not perfection! 

Normally I would’ve been like, “yeah I will wait till Monday it’s the weekend,” because I knew I had a lot planned with friends & stuff going on at church. But I instead made healthy choices being out the entire weekend. I feel almost back to normal!

I say all this to say that I’m not where I want to be (my abs have gone in to hiding after this week lol), but I sure as hell ain’t where I used to be! I’m not in fetal position with sweets, I’m sipping my Shakeology enjoying the sunshine instead. 

So strive for progress, not perfection peeps! No more beating yourself up because I care about you!

Emotional eating is something that so many people struggle with on a daily basis. It is definitely something that I’ve struggled with most of my life. Whenever I’m stressed, I tend to crave carbs & sweets. Whenever I’m upset or sad, I tend to not want to eat. Certain foods also cause us to binge, leading to even more emotions. I’ve started learning so much lately about how to overcome emotional eating, so I want to share it with you.

  1. Figure out your mood. Keep a journal & jot down notes of how you’re feeling whenever you eat something. Keep note of your mood & what you ate.
  2. Ride the wave of your emotions. Emotions and life has ebbs & flows. Try just riding out those emotions instead of going overboard with eating or doing something that you’ll regret.
  3. Don’t empower your vices. Eating unhealthy foods when you have negative emotions can create your body to feel like you need those foods. Grab something healthy like a fruit or veggie instead.
  4. Healthy coping. Try doing other things to deal with your emotions. Go outside for a walk, call a friend, meditate, pray.
  5. Conquer the hard times. Stop telling yourself you’re too busy, you’re too stressed, etc. now to lose weight or get healthy or get your eating in control. Challenge yourself to stay healthy even in stressful times.

I know that overcoming emotional eating can be very difficult. But, by applying these few things that I just gave you it’s totally helped me out. I wanted to teach you how to overcome emotional eating so that you’re no longer looking at this cupcake like I so often did.
