So ya’ll know that I was on a Shakeology pancake frenzy for a while! Now I am on an easy protein waffles frenzy & LOOVVING it!! So I wanted to share with you my simple recipe today, so you can have easy protein waffles, too!

Waffle Mixture

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Shakeology
  • 2 tbsp coconut flour
  • 1 tbsp 0% nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 packets Stevia

Then just mix it all in a bowl & place in your waffle maker for easy protein waffles! For the “icing” I just used the Greek yogurt & mixed it with a tad bit of coconut milk (you can use almond) & Stevia.

You can also make easy protein waffles that are chocolate, like the ones I made this morning…

I cannot believe it’s Christmas week!! Where has 2013 gone?! I am headed out of town in a little bit to go visit my parents for the holiday. I hope you get to spend the holiday with your loved ones as well celebrating the real reason for this season – JESUS! Today I wanted to just quickly give you a 5 tips to stay healthy during Christmas while still enjoying yourself.

1. Exercise - Don’t forget to get in some movement, even if it’s just a 30 minute walk. Staying active will help you feel better.

2. Relaxation - Don’t allow yourself to get stressed over the business of the season. Remember to take time to rest & take care of yourself.

3. Nutrition -  Try to make healthy choices by getting plenty of whole grains, fruits, & veggies. And when you enjoy your treats, do it in moderation. One cheat day a week is okay though icon smile 5 Tips to Stay Healthy During Christmas

4. Water - Make sure you are staying hydrated. If you are drinking alcohol, be sure to up your water intake a bit so you don’t get that horrid holiday hangover.

5. Sleep - Make sure you are getting enough. 7-8 hours a night is key so that you feel at your best.

Happy Thursday! I’m so excited today to tell you about an amazing promotion that Beachbody is doing for the month of November that I get to participate as a coach. We are partnering with the organization Feeding America to help feed all of those hungry people out there this holiday season. Did you realize that there are 49 million people forced to make a decision between either food or heat (or some other necessity)? This breaks my heart! I really need you to help feed America with me!

The statistics of the people who are out there hungry and suffering are so alarming. It equates to about every 1 in 6 Americans, which would be literally 26 states worth of people. This just makes me so sad & we have GOT to do something about this issue! There are so many people out there with too much money & too much food. People throw away food every day because it goes bad. People are living in gluttony, while there are millions of people out there starving just in America alone! I personally contribute part of my tithes monthly to feed orphans, so I TRULY believe in this cause! So please join in this cause with me to help feed America.

This makes me so proud to work for a company supporting such a good cause. Our mission already is to “help people lead healthy fulfilling lives” & we are changing lives every day. But, what a better way to pay it forward by helping millions of people. For the month of November, every discounted fit pack that is purchased Beachbody will give $20 to Feeding America. Emotional eating is something that so many people struggle with on a daily basis. It is definitely something that I’ve struggled with most of my life. Whenever I’m stressed, I tend to crave carbs & sweets. Whenever I’m upset or sad, I tend to not want to eat. Certain foods also cause us to binge, leading to even more emotions. I’ve started learning so much lately about how to overcome emotional eating, so I want to share it with you.

  1. Figure out your mood. Keep a journal & jot down notes of how you’re feeling whenever you eat something. Keep note of your mood & what you ate.
  2. Ride the wave of your emotions. Emotions and life has ebbs & flows. Try just riding out those emotions instead of going overboard with eating or doing something that you’ll regret.
  3. Don’t empower your vices. Eating unhealthy foods when you have negative emotions can create your body to feel like you need those foods. Grab something healthy like a fruit or veggie instead.
  4. Healthy coping. Try doing other things to deal with your emotions. Go outside for a walk, call a friend, meditate, pray.
  5. Conquer the hard times. Stop telling yourself you’re too busy, you’re too stressed, etc. now to lose weight or get healthy or get your eating in control. Challenge yourself to stay healthy even in stressful times.

I know that overcoming emotional eating can be very difficult. But, by applying these few things that I just gave you it’s totally helped me out. I wanted to teach you how to overcome emotional eating so that you’re no longer looking at this cupcake like I so often did.
