I’m super passionate about how the body, mind, & soul all work together, but sometimes I need to remind myself that as well.

As I’ve mentioned in my FB posts, I’ve had an off week. I am not beating myself up & I know I am human, but I am trying to show you something that will help you so hear me out.

Between feeding my body too many foods that aren’t good for me, trying to adapt to a new schedule, not getting enough sleep, & not getting in more than one devotion time a day I’ve been completely jacked up feeling! But, I was thinking & it all started with one thing being off.

I wasn’t feeding my body properly, so it affected me mentally. Because of that I felt more sluggish & not as motivated, so I didn’t care so much about doing extra devotion time or going to bed early (just being real). Even though I know those things are so good for me!

But just that one thing derailed me & had a domino effect. If one is off balance, the others will be as well. And I know when my spiritual life is off & I’m not putting The Lord first, everything else gets thrown off. The body, mind, & soul work together.

And honoring God with my body by eating healthy & properly IS part of my relationship with Him. No wonder the Holy Spirit has felt uncomfortable within my body because I haven’t been taking care of it like I normally would!

Again, I know I’m human & I know we all make mistakes. That’s what we learn from & that’s what I’m taking this last off week as; a lesson from God because He is my Father & is trying to show me I need to get myself together. The body, mind, & soul work together.

I just wanted to share this with y’all & be transparent about my struggles in hopes that it’ll help someone else. These were never things I understood before when I was 60 lbs heavier & not living for The Lord. But I’m thankful for my struggles because they make me stronger & most importantly it’s my testimony to share to help others. The body, mind, & soul work together.

Renewal is something that we typically think of around New Year’s or maybe even Spring, when Summer is quickly approaching. For so many years, I could care less about taking care of my health, body, mind, or soul. I was far away from God, overweight, depressed, & in a dark place. What I’ve learned is that it all starts with your MIND. Once you overcome your mind, you can overcome anything.The body, mind, & soul all work together. I know that can seem very difficult, believe me. I still struggle with it myself sometimes, even after losing 60 lbs & maintaining that the past 4 years. But, I want to show you that you CAN & just how to renew your  life.

When I began my weight loss journey, I had a lot of trouble getting my mind right about it. I tried so many things & continued failing. Then one day I finally figured out what my WHY was – what  made me want to get healthy – & that pushed me along. It started in the mind. I learned how to better control my mind. This was just the beginning of my journey & I’ve figured out so much since then about how they all connect, so I want to share it with all of you. I want to show you how to renew your life.

I’m sure by now you’ve heard me talking about my Healthy for the Holidays group that starts next Monday. I’m very excited about helping people take control of their mind & their life. I  lived so much of my life in fear & depression. Now that I’ve been released from that, I want to help you all break those chains of bondage that we are not meant to live in. God has a bigger plan for your life, you don’t have to feel this way any more.

This group will last from October-March so that I can help you get through the holidays without gaining any weight, but still enjoying yourself & lots of yummy foods. It’s All About Environment

If you’re going to change anything, it all starts with YOU. And your environment hugely contributes to everything about your life. Your thoughts, your moods, your motivation levels, your beliefs, your confidence, and I could keep going. As most of you know, for half of my life I was overweight, dark, depressed, far away from God, and disrespected myself and others. I had been yearning for a change in my life and then one day I finally realized I had to change my environment in order for that to happen. Seriously, i’s all about environment.

Here are just a few things in your environment that could be affecting your life:

  • People
  • Foods
  • Music/TV
  • Books/Reading
  • Living Space

Now I want to tell you why each of these things could affect you.

  • People – This one was the toughest one for me to change, but it had the biggest impact. When I gained all my weight, my friends all stopped talking to me and started making fun of me. I went from “popular” to an outcast basically. So, I made all new friends and it was with the wrong crowd. After associating myself with the wrong crowd for so many years, even in to my adulthood, I realized that a lot of these friends were not helping me move forward in life. They were negative, had unhealthy lifestyles, liked to party, didn’t have big dreams, & were just lazy. As much as I loved them, I had to distance myself from them because it was having a negative impact on me. Once I did that, my weight loss became easier and I started surrounding myself with people who believed and supported my big crazy dreams. It’s all about environment.
  • Foods - This one is pretty obvious, but seriously if you’re keeping unhealthy foods in your living space that is just going to derail you if you’re trying to be healthy. When you’re eating unhealthy foods this can affect your mood and how you feel about yourself. Which will then in return affect your thoughts and all other areas. Body, mind, and soul all work together. Eating a healthy balanced diet will give you energy and make you happy. It’s all about environment.
  • Music/TV - I basically stopped watching TV earlier this year and stopped listening to mainstream music as well. There is so much negativity out there and there are so many females on TV that us women will compare ourselves to. Actresses don’t look like your average person, the news has nothing positive to share, and TV is a waste of time and energy for the most part. And music is about the same. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry just to name a few. But, I blast Elevation Worship music all day er day! It’s all about environment.
  • Books/Reading - This year I started reading a lot of personal development. This was something that was absolutely foreign to me that I had never done before. Do you know how much this has changed and impacted my life? I have grown so much as a person and feel like I am growing all the time, which in result will help me to change my life and others. If you’re reading the news or other negative things, you’re likely to not be as happy and positive, or be growing. It’s all about environment.
  • Living Space - This one is super important because your home/apartment is where you live. I’m really huge in to this and I do pay more for my rent than most people would want to pay. But, since I work from home I want to love where I live. It’s peaceful to me. I also have lots of pictures with motivational quotes and pictures of family and friends that make me happy. I make sure to keep my apartment clean and tidy because if I don’t my mind can’t function as easily. It’s all about environment.

So if you’re looking to make a change in your life, take a look about your environment. Since I’ve done this, my entire life has transformed. If I surrounded myself in a negative environment like I used to then I have no doubt I would be more tempted to go back to my old ways. It’s all about environment.

Body Mind Spirit Mind, Body and Spirit: The Perfect Trinity For A Healthy Body Image I am so excited to talk about one of my favorite topics today – the mind, body, & spirit. They are truly the perfect trinity for a healthy body image. Since I was overweight half my life, I’ve struggled with a healthy body image. Even after losing 60 lbs it’s something that I struggle with almost daily. It is definitely a process, but it becomes easier every day when your mind, body, & spirit are aligned.

If you don’t know my story, it’s been a step by step process to align my mind, body, & spirit. At the age of 21, I was so tired of being unhappy with myself, drinking my problems away every day, & not feeling comfortable in my own body. I tried ever single thing possible to try to lose weight from pills, to Slim Fast, to the Atkins diet. You name it, I tried it.

After going through teenage years of being tormented & a verbally abusive marriage that ended in divorce at the young age of 19, I knew that I HAD to do something to change my life. I was so sick & tired of feeling depressed, I had no confidence, & just felt like there had to be more to life. I also met a very attractive guy in college who I was trying to impress after my divorce, so part of that was my motivation to look better. My mind, body & spirit were not aligned at this time of my life.

I was eating terrible foods because I worked in food & beverage, so I was constantly eating fried foods, desserts, & consuming alcohol. So, I decided to change what I was eating, cut my portions in half, & added a fruit or vegetable to each meal. I also started doing an at home workout DVD because I was too embarrassed to workout at the gym & didn’t know what to do. You’ll see in a minute that even though I was taking care of my body, my mind, body, & spirit were still out of balance.

After making these changes, I lost 30 lbs during my senior year of college in 2009. However, I continued drinking all the time & my relationship with the attractive guy from college wasn’t going that well. Then I graduated college & was in the real world at a full-time “grown up” job, so my partying had to stop. I moved in with a roommate who was also losing weight, so I started running with her. My mind, body, & spirit were still not aligned, even though I started taking care of my body.

I then lost another 30 lbs after eliminating alcohol in 2010, incorporating a variety of workouts, & improving my nutrition even more by eating healthy every day. I ended up going through a bad break up with her boyfriend after a couple of years. This is what started the process of aligning my mind, body, & spirit. Although my body was healthy, my mind & soul were not. I was not happy, confident, or close to God. I hit rock bottom in 2011 & was at a very depressed state, so I decided to start attending church more often. I then got baptized again, joined a life group, started volunteering at church & in the community, & reading my Bible & praying daily. Now that I had a healthier body, I was finally learning how to align my mind, body, & spirit to have a healthy body image.

I then learned towards the end of 2012 about having a relationship with God & living like Jesus. God then helped me to become more confident & happy with myself as a single woman. I had never been single before & felt like I couldn’t live without having a significant other. But, I began to realize all I needed was Jesus in her life & I fell in love with Him. At last my mind, body, & spirit were aligned because I learned about how God viewed me.

I am so passionate about helping others realize that the body, mind, & soul all work together. I know that there are so many women out there who are struggling, dark, & depressed like I was before. God has revealed that He is going to use me to help others through those same struggles to change their entire life. I want to change the world one life at a time by teaching women how to align their mind, body, & spirit.

He helped transform my life from being dark, disrespectful, depressed, and overweight to positive, caring, happy, and healthy. You can also align your mind, body, & spirit, which is the perfect trinity for a healthy body image. Learn to view yourself as God views you. If you ever have trouble figuring that out just remember this Bible verse which always gives me encouragement,

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” ~ Jeremiah 29:11
