8 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

boost confidence 8 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

I know that as a female, we tend to struggle with self confidence issues. I know from personal experience & being overweight (60 lbs heavier than now) half my life definitely destroyed any confidence I did have before I gained it. I have really been working hard lately to get that confidence back though! So I want to help you do the same. Today I have 8 ways to boost your confidence that you can start doing right away!

1. Stop looking on social media & comparing yourself to models. The average size woman in this country is a size 14. Models are a size 0. Enough said.

2.  Love your own photos. Instead of picking out what you don’t like about yourself in a photo, look at what you do like. No, LOVE! Your smile, your cute outfit, your shiny hair, whatever it may be. Focus on that, not what you don’t like.

3. Lift others up. Instead of gossiping about others & making them feel down, lift them up! It will give you a boost, too!

4. Move in a way that you love. Find a workout that makes your body feel good. Maybe it’s running, maybe it’s yoga. Switch it up, every day doesn’t have to be the same. Just make sure you enjoy it.

5. Don’t talk “fat” with your friends. It will influence your own opinion of your body. So instead lift each other up & work towards your goals together! Focus on the good.

6. Push yourself harder. Don’t wait till you make another huge goal, like running a marathon. Start now! At your regular zumba class, just try a little harder. Do your push-ups in your next workout with a little more intensity & effort. Every little bit counts.

7. Try out Yoga or PiYo. This type of movement helps relieve stress & in result helps you have a more positive self body image & esteem. (If you want to try out PiYo, just message me on Facebook  & I am happy to help!)

8. Start a blog. Start sharing your story with others. Share your feelings, get them out. Getting those feeling out will attract others to you feeling the same way & having someone else to go through it with you makes you feel empowered! Take it from someone who has many struggles that shares openly (me!), it helps to have others in a community with you.

I really hope these 8 ways to boost your confidence helps you out! If you ever need advice, have health & fitness questions, need prayer, or would like to join one of my support &  accountability groups don’t ever hesitate to reach out! Always here to help!

xoxo

Coach Summit 2014

coach summit 2015 Coach Summit 2014

Happy Tuesday lovelies! Sorry I have been MIA. But, if you’re following me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram you know I was in Vegas at Coach Summit 2014! I had an absolutely AMAZING time & it was by far the best thing that’s happened to me all year! I wanted to share my journey with you because this opportunity has absolutely changed my entire life. My prayer is that I can touch your heart & help change yours as well.

The reason I want to share all of this is because just a little over a year ago I was just like many of you. I was working at a corporate job, sometimes 80+ hours a week & doing my master’s degree at the same time. I was overworked, underpaid, exhausted, unfulfilled, & just downright miserable. I didn’t have time for anything that I enjoyed doing.

I didn’t have time to go visit my family or to spend with my friends. But, one day I decided to give coaching a shot. Only because I wanted to help people. I didn’t care if I ever made money & didn’t think I would honestly. I had lost 60 lbs a few years ago & just wanted to help people lose weight & change their lives like mine had been changed from my journey.

I am so happy that I gave it a chance because in May of last year I was able to quit my full-time job & move to the city of my dreams. God is so good! I earn substantially more working very part time hours (that I schedule myself!) than I ever did in my director level job & now have so much time to do all the things I love. Everyone deserves to have a life like this, a life that you design. That is why I wanted to share my experience with you about Coach Summit 2014. Because this opportunity has completely changed my life & EVERYONE deserves to be surrounded by a community of amazing people that are healthy, happy, & that help you become a better person & hold you accountable to achieving your goals!

I arrived to Coach Summit 2014 on Wednesday & got to meet one of the coaches I mentor on my team, Tawnay, for the first time in person! We met on my Facebook fan page last year & just knew we were kindred spirits immediately. It was such a blessing being able to get to meet her & fellowship together & also have a bunch of fun!

tawnay Coach Summit 2014

It was great being able to hang out with some of the other coaches on our team in person, too!

So the purpose of Coach Summit 2014 was for all of us coaches to come together & have fun at a ton of parties, workouts live with the celebrity trainers like Shaun T & Chalene Johnson, & go to personal development workshops so that we can become even better coaches & help more people. Our goal is to help people lead healthy fulfilling lives through the coaching opportunity & also with our challenge groups. It was so inspiring to see so many coaches recognized on stage for being completely debt free & also for being million dollar earners. I just KNOW that I will be recognized for debt free next year & million dollar earner before I’m 30! Speaking of being on stage in front of 10,000 , I got recognized on stage for advancing my business & helping a lot of people!

This company is seriously so amazing & has changed my life! We wake up excited every day because we LOVE what we do  &  get rewarded for helping people change their lives. I mean how amazing is that?! God is so good!

Oh and how could I forget!? One of the highlights of Coach Summit 2014 was meeting Chalene Johnson, Shaun T, & Tony Horton!

Oh! Speaking of Chalene Johnson!!! I got my copy of PiYo!!!!!! I started yesterday & it has been absolutely AMAAAZING!! It’s so nice to have a low impact workout that also still really works your muscles, but without crazy jumping & high impact on your joints. I am so excited for my test group starting on July 7th. You can still apply for a spot here, only one spot is left!

And one of my absolute FAVORITE moments was hearing one of the Beachbody challenge winners (who won $100,000) say that before he was waiting to die & now he is just waiting to live. I mean HOW AMAZING is that, that we have a chance to change lives in such a way! We are saving lives & I am so blessed to be a part of it!

So that was my EPIC experience at Coach Summit 2014!! I know I will be taking hundreds of you with me next year & cannot WAIT to help change your life!

If you’re ever interested in doing what I do, or need help on your weight loss journey just shoot me an email & I would be absolutely honored to help you.

How can I WORK-OUT when I’m going to BREAK-DOWN??

How can I WORK OUT when Im going to BREAK DOWN??

I’m sure you all can relate… The alarm goes off and I roll over in bed. Everything within me is screaming, “Hit snooze!!!!! I need sleep!!!!!!!!” But I know that if I don’t get out of bed RIGHT NOW, I will not have enough time to do my work-out. Thinking about not having enough time makes me think about everything else I need to do today, of the bills I don’t know how I’m going to pay, of the relationships I don’t know how to fix… This makes me want to cry. I’m defeated before I can even move my arm towards that darn alarm clock… I’m on the verge of an emotional break-down and I haven’t even gotten out of bed yet. Might as well pull the covers over my head and call it quits.

Has anyone else been there?? Well, my loves, I just wanted to share something that God has been putting on my heart recently. In the mornings when the world rushes at me with all these thoughts, “You don’t have what it takes,” “You can’t handle this,” “You’re never going to change, so why even try?” I have a choice. I know it doesn’t feel like it in the moment. But I have a choice to either believe those voices or to fight.

Before I can even think about getting my body to work-out, I have some mental exercises to do first. The battle for our physical health does not begin in our bodies. It begins in our minds and in our hearts!

Victory starts with a recognition and then a choice. First I have to recognize that my mind is under attack. I have to recognize that all the thoughts I’m thinking are not from God, and they’re sent to steal my joy, my passion, and my confidence that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I have to draw a line in my heart and in my mind and say, those thoughts are not from me and they’re not from God, and I refuse to give in to them! After I recognize that my mind is under attack, then I have to make the choice to fight those thoughts with the right thoughts.

And what are the right thoughts? The right thoughts are the things that God says to me and promises me:

God, You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being and Jesus lives in my heart through faith. I’m rooted and grounded in love, which gives me the strength to comprehend how wide and long and high and deep is Jesus’ love for me. It’s so great it defies understanding! In Him I am filled with all the fullness of God! (Ephesians 3:16-19)

My weapons for this battle are not physical weapons. They are spiritual weapons that have divine power to destroy strongholds! I destroy every argument and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and I take every single one of my thoughts captive to obey Christ! (2 Corinthias 10:4-5)

God, You did not give me a spirit of fear, but of POWER and LOVE and SELF-CONTROL! (2 Timothy 1:7)

Who’s tired of letting negative thoughts defeat your mind and cause you to break-down before you work-out? Who’s tired of feeling defeated before you even plan your first meal, so you just go ahead and eat junk because you believe the lies telling you that you are junk? I know I am. So I’m making the choice to recognize and fight the battle in my mind FIRST!!! Because after I start believing the right voice, God’s voice, everything else is easy in comparison! When I truly believe I am blessed and beloved and favored by my heavenly Father, then realize I already have the victory over my work-out and over my eating. Now I just have to claim it!

Who’s with me?? Let’s start the work-out in our minds first, the minute we wake up in the morning. Because once we realize there’s an attack on our minds, it makes it so much easier to fight! We are assured of the victory because Jesus has already won!

I love you all! I believe in you. God made you and He loves you, and you can do this!!!

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” -Romans 12:2

Body, Mind, & Soul Work Together

body mind soul Body, Mind, & Soul Work Together

I’m super passionate about how the body, mind, & soul all work together, but sometimes I need to remind myself that as well.

As I’ve mentioned in my FB posts, I’ve had an off week. I am not beating myself up & I know I am human, but I am trying to show you something that will help you so hear me out.

Between feeding my body too many foods that aren’t good for me, trying to adapt to a new schedule, not getting enough sleep, & not getting in more than one devotion time a day I’ve been completely jacked up feeling! But, I was thinking & it all started with one thing being off.

I wasn’t feeding my body properly, so it affected me mentally. Because of that I felt more sluggish & not as motivated, so I didn’t care so much about doing extra devotion time or going to bed early (just being real). Even though I know those things are so good for me!

But just that one thing derailed me & had a domino effect. If one is off balance, the others will be as well. And I know when my spiritual life is off & I’m not putting The Lord first, everything else gets thrown off. The body, mind, & soul work together.

And honoring God with my body by eating healthy & properly IS part of my relationship with Him. No wonder the Holy Spirit has felt uncomfortable within my body because I haven’t been taking care of it like I normally would!

Again, I know I’m human & I know we all make mistakes. That’s what we learn from & that’s what I’m taking this last off week as; a lesson from God because He is my Father & is trying to show me I need to get myself together. The body, mind, & soul work together.

I just wanted to share this with y’all & be transparent about my struggles in hopes that it’ll help someone else. These were never things I understood before when I was 60 lbs heavier & not living for The Lord. But I’m thankful for my struggles because they make me stronger & most importantly it’s my testimony to share to help others. The body, mind, & soul work together.

If you ever have a prayer request or need help with something, don’t hesitate to email me or message me on Facebook!

Results that Transform Lives

Happy Monday y’all! Today I have a story to share with you from my friend Jenna about how she’s transformed her life. Jenna is one of the coaches on my team & I am SO PROUD of the results she’s had so far. In my challenge groups, we are not just getting results that will only last temporarily. You will learn how to make this a lifestyle & not gain all your weight back. We are getting results that transform lives.

I did an interview with Jenna about her  journey that I would love to share with you.

Tell the readers about yourself icon smile Results that Transform Lives
First let me say that I am so excited to be featured on my sister from another mister’s blog! It truly is awesome to be recognized for my achievements! icon smile Results that Transform Lives

I will be turning 29yrs young here soon, I live in Ohio and am married to a Marine Veteran and we have 2yr old son. I absolutely love music and my son really is my life. I am now working as a Barista at Starbucks, and I love it! If I’m not at work or cleaning the house I am hanging out with my family just doing whatever. When fall and the holiday season rolls around we love to all go out and venture around different stores looking at decorations and lights!

How’d you get started on your weight loss journey?
I’ve had such a yo-yo experience with weight loss, honestly. It all started in 2003 when my Mom moved us out to Washington State. I was in my Senior year of high school, having lived in the same town since I was 3yrs old. It was a huge change! I went through a lot and it greatly affected my weight because I turned to food. I went from 150lbs in 2003 to 210lbs by 2005! I looked in the mirror one day in a size 16 pants and and XL shirt and just said, this is ridiculous! I was not used to what I saw because I had never been that big in my entire life and I was a dancer and pretty athletic. So, knowing I needed to make changes I started watching what I ate and how much I ate. Within a year I dropped to 170lbs. I stayed there for awhile, we moved back to Ohio and I lost 5lbs more!

I kept at that weight for a good while, got a job and got in to a relationship and did the ‘comfort eating’ thing, I packed on 20lbs, stayed at 185 until about 2007 and I wasn’t happy with myself so I started portion control again, dropped down to 175. Then in 2009 I met my husband, did the ‘comfort eating’ thing again and got up to 190/191, got pregnant with my son in 2010, dropped back down to 175 in the first 3 months but then by then end of my pregnancy I was back at 210!! I couldn’t believe it, but I was pregnant so I chalked it up to baby weight. I had my son and weighed myself a week after being home and was down to 185. I nursed him for 6 months and got down to 175. If you’re unaware, nursing a child burns 500cals per day, so it’s easy to gain weight when you stop, and when I didn’t nurse anymore I went back up to 189!

In June of 2012 is when I started to get serious, watched what I was eating again, tried to be more active when I could. When we moved in to our own place I started doing Zumba a couple times a week and Jillian Michaels DVDs and  I just really watched my nutrition and took my son for walks whenever I felt like it. I hit my first goal of 175 and was SO ecstatic! So then I continued to set small goals for myself, usually 5lb increments, I read more, studied more, and it all worked! I am currently sitting at 160lbs.

What has been the toughest part for you?
The toughest parts would have to be my insane sweet tooth, and my boredom eating. Believe it or not it’s hard for me to really feel like I always have something going on, even though I’m a Mom and I work; especially since my son likes to do his own thing a majority of the time. But, if there’s nothing else to do I tend to snack because then it feels like I’m doing something. And, I’ve often found that it doesn’t even have to be a physical activity, as long as your mind is busy you should be good icon smile Results that Transform Lives And, I’ve alwaaaaaays loved ice cream and Oreos! Those are 2 things I feel like I could eat non-stop, all the time if I allowed myself to!
How did you overcome that struggle?
I have just tried to be strong-willed enough to eat as best I can and watch how much I eat as well. And, I also try not to keep sweets in the house because it’s a lot harder to eat it if it’s not readily available!
What workouts have been your favorite so far?
I have actually only done a little bit of P90X and am now doing T25. I LOVE P90X Plyometrics and Ab Ripper X, just absolutely love them, not quite sure why, ha! And, T25 is an amazing workout in only 25 min, who wouldn’t want that?!

How has Beachbody helped with your journey?
I decided to become a part of the Beachbody community because I know, first hand, how much easier it is to lose weight and achieve your goals when you have solid support, and that’s what Beachbody does. It gives  you a sense of belonging, a REASON to workout because  it’s kind of like your letting more than just yourself down if you don’t achieve your goals. It just makes you want to do more overall.

How has having me as your coach helped you ?
Well, first, you’re now one of my closest friends, and a friend like you is hard to come by. And, you are open and honest and a great listener which are qualities good leaders should posses! You push us to do better, you’re constantly encouraging us as well. You actually connect with us, and you’re not a ‘boss’ who we never see or talk to. You’ve found your purpose in life, and that makes it so easy for you to help some of us find ours. icon smile Results that Transform Lives

So that last statement just made me cry, she’s too sweet! icon smile Results that Transform Lives I wanted to share with you Jenna’s transformation from the past year. She looks amazing!

I really hope you enjoyed Jenna’s story today. I’m so thankful that she shared it so I could share it with all of y’all! I know there are so many people out there struggling in every way and I’ve been there before, too. Her story just shows that Beachbody is a community that really helps people get real results that transform lives.

When Food is Your Best Friend and Worst Enemy

ecard complicated food When Food is Your Best Friend and Worst Enemy

Do you feel like this is you? You’re not alone!! I lost 60 lbs a few years ago & have maintained that weight loss since then, but I have been struggling lately with the food aspect. Food is by far the toughest part about a healthy lifestyle, but it is the most important. Your results are 80% food & 20% fitness. So, what do you do when food is your best friend and worst enemy? I’ve finally figured it out today & wanted to share with you.

If you’ve been reading my previous posts, you know that for the past few months I’ve been eating a very bland diet. When I say blend, I mean egg whites, veggies, & the occasional bowl of oatmeal or slice of Ezekiel bread. And my Shakeology of course. That was it! I was working on getting more toned, but over time I realized this was not sustainable. I’m not going to be in a bikini competition so why deprive myself so much?! I started binging on the weekends whenever it was supposed to just be my cheat meal. I realized that food was my best friend and  worst enemy.

So here’s the deal y’all! We have to go back to the simple basics:

  • Eat more fruits & veggies. I aim to eat one of the two at every meal.
  • Get your exercise in. Shoot for at least 30 minutes a day 4-5 days a week.
  • Get enough sleep. Relax. Don’t stress.
  • Listen to your body, not what others tell you.
  • Calories in vs. calories out. You must be burning more calories than you’re consuming.
  • Everything in moderation. If you make a food “off limits,” you’re just going to go out of control whenever you do consume it. Or you’re going to just keep eating other stuff until you fulfill that craving.
  • Make healthy versions of “naughty” foods. There are TONS of substitutions that you can use to make recipes healthier. For example, instead of mayo use plain non-fat Greek yogurt.

So are you still wondering what to do when food is your best friend and worst enemy? Well, it does take time y’all. You do have to be patient, persistent, & dedicated. But, it doesn’t have to be restrictive. It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change. And if you’re still unsure of what to eat – I have great news for you!

I am currently working on two major projects that will help you figure out how to have a healthy relationship with food.

  1. Recipe E-Book – I will be releasing an E-Book with my friend Sarah with tons of delicious recipes that are simple & healthy. We are aiming for November, so keep your eyes peeled!
  2. Holiday Survival Guide – I am launching a 6 month program where you’ll learn how to survive the holiday season without gaining weight, but still enjoying delicious foods. You will learn how to make this a lifestyle change & even lose weight & keep it off for good.

Here are more details on the holiday project:

October Flier When Food is Your Best Friend and Worst Enemy

I really hope this article helped you because I’ve personally struggled with my relationship with food my entire life. I’m finally back at a happy point with it again & I can’t wait to help you do the same. So now I hope you know what to do when food is your best friend and worst enemy! I truly also hope to see you in my holiday group as well, it’s going to be amazing!
