Who can relate?! I realized I have GOT to get this winter fluff off!!! Too many indulgences and my body is like WHOA GIRL HOLD UP!! Haha.

But, anyway I seriously LOVE following the 21 Day Fix Meal Plan because I CAN  have pancakes!!!! Healthy ones of course, but they still taste AMAZEE!!! As weird as it sounds, I LOVE following these containers because I don’t have to obsess about calories and it helps me keep my portions in control. And I am SO FULL!

So anyway, to the pancake recipe you all came here for is as follows, it’s super easy!!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oats (blended in to oat flour)
  • 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology (or protein powder or choice)
  • 1/4 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  • All you do is dump the oat flour (just dump the rolled oats in your blender first to make in to flour) in to a bowl and mix in the other ingredients
  • Heat up a pan to medium-high eat
  • I use coconut oil spray to spray my pan, Trader Joes has the best kind!
  • Then measure out about 1 tbsp for each pancake
  • Cook on each side for about a minute and a half and boom done!
  • I topped mine with a few teaspoons of Chocolate PB2 mixed with almond milk (powdered PB, only 45 calories in 2 tbsp and less fat, you can buy at most all grocery stores)

Becoming a coach with Beachbody has seriously been THE best decision I have ever made in my life!! It has not only impacted me professionally (I have built a six figure business in less than 3 years), but also on a personal level. The income is not even why I do this! I started this just as a hobby because I hated my job and was unfulfilled. I would be happy if I made $100 a month, heck $0 and I would still do it! But, seriously I have become more confident, learned so much about myself, improved my relationships, my finances, and met THE absolute BEST friends along the way!

I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I didn’t make this decision, something I didn’t think I had the time for that scared the poop out of me. Well, actually I can but I do not want to even think about that because it is scary. I have no regrets! Well, if I had one it would be that I did not start sooner! I put it off for 3 months because I was scared and felt I didn’t have the time. I was working 80+ hours a week as the Director of Residence Life at a college, doing my master’s degree, and volunteering at church. I have NO DOUBT that being a coach is my PURPOSE in life. It is my passion and I LOVE helping others and encouraging them to grow their own business as well. When I talk to others about my experience as a coach and about the business itself, people who don’t understand can be very skeptical about it. I totally understand because a lot of people are misinformed. So I thought I would write up a blog post about the biggest misconceptions about being a coach with Beachbody that I hear along with my answers to those misconceptions.

1. I don’t have the money to be a Beachbody Coach.

Okay for reals!?! SAY WHAT?!?! This is an opportunity for you to MAKE money, not spend it! As your sponsor, my first goal is to help you cover the cost of your own products which is SUPER SIMPLE to do. You just have to help 3 people a month and I will help you do that! Then we will build up from there. I was able to earn back what I paid to start within the first month, but I was a SLOW STARTER. I am now helping my new coaches earn back what they paid within their first week or two! I have no doubt I can help you do the same. This opportunity has seriously changed my life financially: I am earning a six figure income and I have almost NO DEBT left whatsoever (just a few thousand bucks which will be paid off within the next month). If money is a concern for you, then I am sorry to say this but you are too broke to NOT do this.

 

2. I’m not a sales person.

GROSS! Me neither!! They are icky and pushy and not cool! Do you feel you are being a sales person when you tell your best friend about your favorite nail salon or restaurant? UM NO! It is perfectly natural to share something you love and feel passionate about. That is all this business is about! You are SHARING your love of the products and your experiences. You are NOT selling. I told my sponsor when I signed up the same thing and that I didn’t care if I made money. But, because I truly care about helping others and share my passions it all just clicked. I teach everyone on the team to do the same in a very non-salesy not icky way. You do earn at least 25% commission when anyone you share with purchases from your website. All I literally do is share my story and the stories of others and people just come to me asking me how to join, that easy.

3. I’m not a fitness expert.

Great! Because I’m not either. I did lose 60 lbs back in 2009, but I did not go to school for nutrition or fitness. My master’s degree is actually in higher education. You do not have to be an expert. All you need to be successful is the desire to help others. You don’t have to be a personal trainer or nutritionist. In fact, most of us are not. As a coach, I am an accountability partner, friend, and fellow warrior on the road to getting healthier. The fitness professional stuff is left to the creators of the Beachbody products and everything people need is provided in the DVDs and guides.

4. I don’t have enough time to be a coach.

Really? Do you not have 30 minutes throughout the day that you don’t have anything to do? Even if it’s 10 minutes here and there? How much time do you spend scrolling Facebook? Or watching TV? Beachbody is not a get rich quick scheme, but it does not require a lot of time. I started this when I was working 80+ hours a week, on top of doing my master’s degree and volunteering. Many of the coaches on this team also started their journey while working full-time and have later been able to quit their full-time jobs because their income with Beachbody exceeded their full-time salary. But, that was done in part-time hours. I literally only work 20 hours a week and earn a six figure income. NO WAY IN HELL I regret finding the time do this when I was working 80+ hours and I know you won’t either.

5. I’m not fit!

That is actually an advantage for you! And it doesn’t matter anyway. When I went to my first Beachbody event, I was terrified that I would look like a busted can of biscuits compared to all of the super fit people. But, I was completely wrong! Majority of coaches are not super ripped. MANY coaches are just beginning their journey. People love to follow people who are struggling through the same things or who have gone through it before. Because YOU GET IT. You have an advantage because people will see your results and come to you and ask you what you’re doing! My coach Steph started with the 21 Day Fix and within her first 30 days of the business she had at least 5-10 people a week reaching out to her asking her how they could get started with what she was doing.

6. Beachbody is one of those pyramid schemes!

This is actually the biggest misconception that I come across. Everyone complains about pyramid schemes, except for the few who actually know what they are. A pyramid scheme is actually an illegal business model that requires people to pay money to join and there is no actual product. Beachbody is a network marketing company, which is a business model that has been in existence for many decades. And just because you start first doesn’t mean you will earn all the money. You could start this and surpass me and make more money than I do. We all work as a team and help each other and the structure is really like a railroad track because you earn based on what the ENTIRE team is doing.

7. I need prior business experience!

I was definitely unqualified then, haha. This is a business and to see results you must be committed, but all we do is just share our experience more than anything else. Beachbody spends millions of dollars each year on advertising and the products are a household name. People may not know what Beachbody is, but as soon as I ask them, “you know the people who make P90X and Insanity?” they immediately know what I am talking about. You also don’t have to handle any of the products, returns, or processing because it is all done for you. So no stock piling products in your garage. Ain’t no one got time for that! I had no experience running a business when I started this and it didn’t stop me from earning a six figure income. I know it won’t stop you either.

8. Only the people that started first make any money!

This is something I mentioned earlier, but there is no limit on your earnings. The person that started before you may not even work their business, make nothing, while you could earn $50,000. You are not limited to what anyone who starts before you is earning. The only person directly related to your income is YOU. I did not get in early and I held myself back for a while. Like I said, I was a slow starter. Yet I am still earning a six  figure income.

9. But my friend tried network marketing and failed.

Most people know someone who started a network marketing company and then quit. Guess what? Quitting is not how you succeed! If you just give it one year with consistent effort (30 minutes a day, literally) you WILL see results. If I would have quit when I wasn’t seeing results, I would not be where I am today. Success doesn’t happen over night. The ones who stick it out earn an incredible income. So just learn from those around you who are successful and follow their example. There are many examples of successful coaches on my team that you can emulate, as well as myself. This is something you will have to work for and you can’t sign up and do nothing and expect money to come. But, if you sign up with the right mentor who has an established and proven system that will make a huge difference. I have helped people from other network marketing companies who “failed” at that business and have seen success quickly with my help. I work diligently on their training, mentorship, and professional development. You may be shocked at your potential when these things are available to you. It has changed my life.

My philosophy about nutrition has radically changed since I first lost weight back in 2009. I lost it by counting calories, but ate a lot of processed foods that I thought were healthy back then. I learned about clean eating a couple years ago and it has radically changed how I eat.

I honestly just recently stopped counting calories because it was taking over my whole life and became an obsession. It was not a healthy obsession either. I fully believe that we should not eat more food than we need (although I often want to because I LOVE food haha), but the calorie thing just drove me crazy.

All calories are not created equally. I could eat 5 chicken breasts for about 500 calories (I would throw up if I ate that much and could not do it, this is just an example) or I could eat 2 big cupcakes 500 calories. Which one is going to keep me fuller for longer and which has more nutritional and health benefits? I think you know the answer. icon smile 5 Tips to Overcome Binge Eating

So, my philosophy is to eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. Eat foods that make you feel good and be mindful of how each thing you eat makes you feel. If it makes you feel sluggish or sick, listen to that. It’s your body’s way of telling you what it needs to thrive. I eat clean 98% of the time, but believe in a cheat meal or a couple of treats throughout the week. Otherwise you will go insane. And like I said, I do not count calories.

I have struggled with binge eating over the last couple of years because I tried to follow too strict of diets that eliminated like everything known to mankind. So my tips to overcome binge eating would be:

  1. Don’t restrict anything from your diet unless you have a severe allergy or medical reason for you to do so
  2. Practice everything in moderation
  3. Treat YO SELF!
  4. Find a healthy replacement for when you’re craving (I love to have a coffee or drink La Croix flavored sparkling waters when I want to binge)
  5. Keep yourself busy and keep your body moving and you won’t have time to think of everything you’re craving

I was just sitting here this weekend reflecting on how different my life was just at the end of the college. I weighed 60 lbs more, my clothes were all tight on me and I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my future, I just went to college because that’s what everyone did. I got my undergrad in Business Administration because I figured it was broad enough to get me most professional jobs. Or so I thought.

The economy was in great shape while I was in college and in 2009 when I graduated, everything tanked. Luckily I was proactive and started looking for any jobs in the business, marketing, or advertising field 6 months prior to graduating. What can I say, I guess I’ve always been a go getter, so much so that I decided during my senior semester of college (probably the most stressful) that I wanted to lose weight once and for all.

I was so uncomfortable, hated having a muffin top, had no self confidence to talk to guys, had no energy, and was eating and drinking myself sick. Literally I would get drunk every night and binge on food because it was my coping mechanism. After feeling fed up with feeling like this every day, I started doing workout DVDs at home and eating healthier. I ended up losing 60 lbs and it literally changed every aspect of my life!

Also at the end of college, since I was proactive with applying for hundreds of jobs every week, I landed a job as the Bookstore Manager at a small college in Georgia. Not my ideal job, but I was just happy to have something in the poor economy. So, then I picked up and moved shortly after graduating college. 

I started working there and I did enjoy it because I felt I was helping students. Again not my ideal job, but I focused on what I did enjoy about it. Within a year of working there, I was promoted to the Director of Residence Life and also started working on my Master’s in Higher Education. I THOUGHT that I wanted to become the Dean of Students. Mainly because my boss said I would be good at it. Looking back, it was never what I truly wanted. I didn’t know what I want, so I let someone else plan my future.

After being in residence life for a few months, I began to HATE my job. I was very GRATEFUL for the opportunity but I was SO UNFULFILLED! Why? Because I let someone else plan my future and didn’t take control of it myself. One of my best friends who was also a co-worker had started this online coaching thing on the side and I kept seeing her posts on Facebook about helping people lose weight. I thought to myself, “how cool! losing weight transformed my whole life, I would LOVE to help others do the same!”

I asked her about it and just thought it was something I would do as a hobby, didn’t think I could earn money nor did I care if I did. I put it off for a few months because I kept telling myself I was too busy for it. I mean I did work 80+ hours a week at times, was doing my master’s degree, volunteered at church, and still had to have time to eat, sleep, and poop!

I finally decided though to just give it a shot since there was a 30 day money back guarantee because I was so unhappy that I would CRY every DAY when I had to go to work. On the weekends I would ball my eyes out like a baby knowing I had to go do it again for another week. I did not see coaching as a way out of my job or to earn money, but I just wanted to feel fulfilled and like I was giving back and helping others.

So I set out to start this business BLINDLY! I had no clue what network marketing was, didn’t know a damn thing about social media (other than how to scroll through Facebook and post a picture), and had never owned a business. I told my friend when I started, “I don’t care if I make money and I probably wont!” I had no idea what I was doing, but I wanted to help others feel how I felt losing 60 lbs.

What did I do: I just started posting on Facebook (had maybe a few hundred friends back then) about my transformation. I posted about the accountability and support groups and just asked my friends to join me on a journey to getting healthy together. I just posted about my workout, a healthy meal, or a motivational quote. I just put myself out there (which was scary as hell at first) so that I could help others and add value in to their lives.

I absolutely loved what I was doing and the feeling of helping just a few people just filled me up inside. And I was actually making a little extra money because I was just focused on reaching out to help others.

Then fast forward to about a year later. I had gone to a few Beachbody events and seen people sharing their stories who had been in the business for way longer than myself. But, people earning SIX FIGURES within a couple of years, some were MILLIONAIRES within 5-7 years. I was SHOCKED! As I said, it was never about the money. I started this not wanting to make money, but wanting to help people. But, I did hate my job so I got motivated and wanted to reach out and help more people so I could grow my income and quit my job.

Then in April of 2013 I did just that! I am now a 2014 Elite Coach (top .01% of the company), am ranked #109 out of 275,000 coaches in the network, and I have built a six figure business. In fact, in January I earned what it would have taken me SIX MONTHS to earn at my director level job at the college.

And that is just the beginning! I could have been so much further than that, but in 2013 and 2014 I let a lot of fear and excuses hold me back from growing my business larger. Like that is LITERALLY insane for me to say out loud! Well, I guess type out loud haha. Especially since I only started this to just help people.

So I’m sitting here today writing this post because I want to pay it forward to other ladies who are busy girl bosses just like I was when I started this. So it’s been a week and a half since I started 21 Day Fix and I am in LOVE just as much, if not MORE, than the first time I did it last year!!! I decided to make it a hybrid and do Turbo Fire with it because I know just how quickly HIITs burn fat. You may not think I need to lose weight, but I have about 10 lbs I would like to lose to get back to my ideal weight.

If you have been following me for a while, you know that when I first moved to Charlotte last year I struggled with binge eating. I ate my emotions and got in to a depression being in a new city. I got a lot better towards the end of 2014, but had a few smaller episodes recently due to emotions. But, luckily I have been on track! I joined a group with my church with other ladies who struggle with eating disorders. And I have also found that if I have something to replace my craving for food (like coffee, hot tea, or gum) and keep myself busy (by praying, walking, calling a friend) then I can overcome the cravings.

So hopefully some of those tips help you, too! But, I wanted to also give you peak in to what I am eating on the meal plan so that you can get some ideas. I usually have a few go to breakfasts and dinners that I rotate. Lunch is usually always Shakeology because it is so quick and easy!

Breakfast

  • Egg whites (red container) with feta (half blue container) and spinach and mushrooms (green container
  • Greek yogurt (red container) with half cup granola (yellow container) and half cup blueberries (purple container)
  • Protein pancakes using Shakeology (red container), 1 egg white (1/8 red container), 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (1/4 cup red container), 1 tbsp almond milk (not enough to count), 1 tsp baking powder, & 1/2 cup oats (yellow container)

Lunch

  • It’s always Shakeology, but here are some recipe ideas
  • Reese’s Cup: one scoop Chocolate Vegan Shakeology (red container), 1 cup almond milk (1/2 yellow container), & 2 tbsp PB (tspn container)
  • Vanilla Milkshake: one scoop Vanilla Shakeology (red container), 1 cup almond milk (1/2 yellow container), 1/2 banana (purple container), & 2 tbsp PB (tspn container)
  • Butterfinger: one scoop Chocolate Vegan Shakeology (red container), 1 cup almond milk (1/2 yellow container), 1/4 package Sugar Free Butterscotch Pudding mix (1/4 yellow container), & 2 tbsp PB (tspn container)

Snacks

  • Apple (purple container) with almonds (orange container)
  • Egg whites (enough for 1/2 red container) with turkey bacon (enough for 1/2 red container)
  • Ezekiel bread (yellow container) with 2 tbsp PB (use the other half of my blue container for this because it’s a healthy fat)

Dinner

  • Salmon (red container) with sweet potato fries (yellow container) and brussel sprouts and asparagus (two green containers)
  • Veggie burger (red container) with quinoa (yellow container) and veggie (two green containers) stir fry
  • Chicken sausage (red container) with zucchini and squash (two green containers)
  • Shredded chicken with hot sauce (red container) with feta (blue container) topped on bed of romaine lettuce with red peppers (two green containers)

Today I wanted to write about something that I also struggle with in hopes that it’ll help others. Ever since losing 60 lbs a few years ago & keeping it off, I have struggled with binge eating. I will decide to go on these crazy restrictive diets & then when I am done & can have “real food” again, I tend to get out of control.

Most recently I was doing probably the most restrictive diet I have ever done in my life & it caused me to end up binging pretty bad at Christmas. I literally just wrote ya’ll a post Monday about how to stay healthy, but I didn’t follow it myself. Sweets are totally my weakness so I overindulged on several cookies & lots of Sangria. But for once, I am not going to beat myself up & am going to take this as a learning lesson. I have decided no more crazy restrictive diets, I will just eat healthy & allow myself small treats in moderation so that I don’t feel the need to overindulge.

So because of all this I was doing some research on how to overcome binge eating so I wanted to share it with ya’ll, too.

  1. Mange your stress. Find alternate ways to handle stress such as exercising, meditating, or other relaxation practices.
  2. Eat 3 meals a day plus healthy snacks. Be sure that you’re eating every 2-3 hours & consuming healthy foods. Think lots of whole grains, lean proteins, veggies, & fruits.
  3. Avoid temptation. Remove all the junk food from your house so it’s not there to tempt you.
  4. Stop dieting. Avoid banning certain foods & focus on just having things in moderation when you are craving something “unhealthy.”
  5. Exercise. It will help boost your mood & the positive emotions can put a stop to binge eating.
  6. Fight boredom. Distract yourself from eating by taking a walk, calling a friend, or reading a book.
  7. Get enough sleep. Make sure you’re getting 7-8 hours a night.
  8. Listen to your body. Learn to distinguish physical hunger & emotional hunger. Drink a glass of water & if you’re still hungry 15 minutes later, than you’re truly hungry.
  9. Keep a food diary. Track what you’re eating. You’ll be less likely to eat too much if you know you have to write it down.
  10. Get support. Use your family & friends to lean on. Join a support group.

I know the one that stood out to me most was “stop dieting” because that’s basically the only one that I’m struggling with now. I also know that having a huge support system around me helps so much!
