Motivation Monday!

 Motivation Monday!

Happy Memorial Day!!!!!!  It’s Motivation Monday!

What is your motivation for getting healthy? My motivations span a wide range, from silly little things to some pretty big stuff. Here’s a list, in no particular order, of some of my motivations to exercise and eat healthily:

  • To look super cute in my summer clothes
  • To take preventative action against the diabetes and heart disease that’s rampant in my family
  • To have more energy and focus
  • To get rid of brain fog
  • To get toned abs, arms, and legs
  • To have healthy lifestyle habits I can pass on to my children
  • To have increased confidence and comfort in the body God’s given me
  • To learn self-discipline
  • To have improved moods and attitudes
  • To wear be able to wear those pants again that are a bit too tight
  • To have victory over self-image issues I’ve had my whole life
  • To be stronger and have more physical endurance

All of these are really good motivations, and good reasons to get fit. But honestly, there are some days where absolutely none of them cut it. Some days, the present reality of delicious looking ice cream is a whole lot more appealing than the future possibility of getting diabetes. Some days, the cupcake seems worth the brain fog. Some days, watching Netflix instead of doing my work-out is way more motivational to me than looking good this summer.

So how do we motivate ourselves when all our best motivations fall short?

I’m starting to learn that on days like that, my motivation doesn’t work if I’m doing it for myself. You see, I don’t really want to do what’s best for myself a lot of the time. Maybe this is because I have no real understanding of how truly valuable I am.

The only motivation that works for me on days like that is to do it for God. When we are tempted to compromise our healthy eating or our exercise, it’s usually because deep down we don’t feel valuable enough to be worth the effort. So when that happens, I have to look to God. Because He’s infinitely valuable, and He’s worth the effort. He deserves my self-discipline, even if I don’t feel like I’m worth it.

When I switch my motivation from trying to do something for myself to doing something to honor God, it frees me from a huge weight. It makes me realize that He cares about my health and fitness infinitely more than I do. It also lifts my perspective, helping me see myself the way God sees me. Instead of feeling like I’m not really worth all this work and discipline and discomfort, I remember that I have a divine destiny. God made me in His image and put me on this earth to do something for His glory that only I can do. He has given me skills, gifts, and resources that are uniquely mine, and He desires to do something greater than I can imagine in and through me.

I love this! When our motivation becomes honoring God, He steps in and helps us honor ourselves. He reminds us that He loves us and that we are precious and valuable to Him. It also takes the pressure off when I realize that this fitness journey isn’t about me as much as I think it is. It’s really about Jesus. It’s about Jesus making me more like Himself to shine His light to the world.

Now I’m not saying it’s bad to have those motivations I listed at the beginning. Those are all great things. But they will all fail eventually if they’re my only motivations because they’re all based around me and my own strength. The only way to make it on this journey is on God’s strength. So He must be our true motivation!

Today, list out your motivations for getting fit. Then pray and ask God to help you find a solid, lasting rock of motivation in Jesus.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” -1 Corinthians 6:19-20

I Can Do All Things Through Christ

i can do all things through christ I Can Do All Things Through Christ

Happy Thursday love! I want to talk to you today about something God put on my heart.

Have you ever felt like you were living in bondage in one or multiple areas of your life? That was ME for most all of my life!

Then when I started becoming closer to The Lord this last year, He has guided me to true freedom & provided wisdom in every area.

People ask me a lot, “how are you so strong?” or “how do you do everything you do, even when you don’t feel like it?”

My strength comes from The Lord, the maker of heaven & earth. I run to him when I’m weary, He gives me rest, & most importantly I’ve learned to not obey what my flesh wants.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Phil. 4:13

Although I do have my moments (like the other night after my sushi date, me & my girl Meg totally had too much chocolate). But it’s all about progress & just giving it all over to The Lord.

The Lord can help you break those chains & give you the kind of life you’ve never imagined. I’m blessed that He has allowed me to mentor others to do the same. Because THAT is even better than doing it myself. Watching others break through & have freedom is why I do what I do every day, even when I don’t feel like it.

Remember, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

And you can do it, too. I would love to support you & guide you. Just comment below or email me at jpbaum87@gmail.com if you need prayer or guidance.

As always, don’t forget to  love yourself!

Embrace the Struggle

embrace Embrace the Struggle

Do you feel like you’ve been in a winter season? Are you going through some tough times with your finances, your relationships, your health? You’re not alone. I want to tell you today why we have to learn to embrace the struggle. We must praise Jesus even when we don’t want to.

Ever since I quit my full-time job last year to follow what God told me He wanted me to do with my life (just my coaching business), it has been the most AWESOME year but also the HARDEST year of my life. When we are following God’s path, the enemy gets PISSED. He does not want to see us spread god’s word, he doesn’t want us to be happy, overcome struggles, or have breakthroughs. And the closer you get to God, the more you are going to struggle because of the enemy. So we HAVE to embrace the struggle!

Whenever you are struggling with something & it gets particularly intense, it’s a sign that your breakthrough is right around the corner. This happens to me all the time. I even experiences struggles right after a breakthrough; which is where I have been recently. My finances and my self image are my two areas of weakness where I struggle with putting my happiness or identity in those areas. I know that I have to put my identity in God & that’s all that matters. So I am learning to embrace the struggle.

Well, PRAISE God that I have had financial breakthroughs & finally a breakthrough with my weight this year. Then as soon as those breakthroughs happen – BAM – I have more struggles. I get discouraged when the scale doesn’t go down or my income doesn’t increase. And that is the ENEMY right there because he knows that I am about to break all the chains & have freedom. So he is taunting me & doing all he can to hold me back. That is why we have to embrace the struggle.

God has been telling me that I am about to have an EPIC breakthrough & I KNOW this is true because He promises me that & He has given me visions for my future. And it is the same for YOU my friend! God has a HUGE plan for your life & He promises you that it will happen. If you are struggling right now, your breakthrough is right around the corner. Don’t let the enemy hold you back – embrace the struggle!

Don’t forget to always love yourself!

And please RT or share with anyone this may help.

What Causes Cellulite?

What Causes Cellulite What Causes Cellulite?

Today I figured that I would share a blog post on something that I have been struggling with again recently. My cellulite had gotten much better, but for some reason lately it has reappeared. So I figured I would do something that would help all of us because 90% of women struggle with cellulite. So what causes cellulite?

  • Genetics, hormones, circulation, inflammation, fat, stress, poor diet, high alcohol consumption, & lack of exercise are what can cause cellulite

But good news! There are ways to help improve your cellulite that you can easily start doing. You will not have to buy any crazy creams, lotions, get surgery, or those weird body wraps. Here are a few tips that will help you get rid of cellulite:

  • Exercises that work your lower body (see below)
  • Drink more water
  • Certain foods – blueberries, tomatoes, watermelon, eggs, oily fish, flaxseed oil, spinach, brazil nuts, pineapple

how to get rid of cellulite What Causes Cellulite?

I’m glad that I researched what causes cellulite so that I can help get rid of mine & help ya’ll, too! We can do it together!

Maybe I will go back to doing Brazil Butt Lift - I would love for ya’ll to join me! Here were my results from when I did it earlier this year.

Your Body and Your Image: Seeing Yourself Healthy

healthy body image Your Body and Your Image: Seeing Yourself Healthy

The way you see yourself & your thoughts are literally what creates your life & happiness. I have personally struggled with an unhealthy body image for most of my life. I was overweight for half my life & a few years ago finally lost 60 lbs. Since then I’ve kept it off (gained a few in muscle though), but I continue to view myself as the girl I used to be when I looked in the mirror. Then God & the Pastor at my church started working on me about this topic. There is a way to love yourself & I like to call it your body and your image: seeing yourself healthy.

It’s all about the thoughts that you let stay in your head – you have to control that ACESSS – those negative thoughts CAN be kicked to the curb! There are going to be so many negative thoughts that pass through your mind each day, but you MUST overcome them with positive thinking & the Word of God. Remember how God views you & just how beautiful & fearless He made you. You DESERVE to be happy! Surround yourself with positivity so that those negative thoughts don’t stand a chance. It’s your body and your image: seeing yourself healthy.

Here are some more tips that I found, I love this list!!! It’s your body and your image: seeing yourself healthy.

I want to encourage you to enjoy the process & be thankful for what you do have! My body has changed A LOT since starting Insanity almost 2 months ago! I’m not exactly where I want to be because I want to continue getting more toned & stronger, but I’m so thankful for how far I’ve come! I’m now able to get through almost all the workouts without stopping, I’ve lost several inches & a few pounds, I have a little mini two pack that comes & goes, my cellulite is basically go on, & my arms are more toned. So I’m sharing that with you to say pick out the GOOD – go write down your list & be thankful for that today! Stop complaining about the rest & thank God for what you do have right now! Your Mind Controls Everything

Your Mind Controls Everything Your Mind Controls Everything

Am I a coach? Yes! Do I love eating healthy & working out? Duh! Am I motivated to most days? For the most part, sometimes I still feel like my old 200 lb self though! Today was NOT one of those days though where i felt motivated, just being real. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, wanted to keep sleeping, was beating myself up for everything imaginable. Seriously, your mind controls everything.

But you know what? I’m SO thankful for Jesus to get me through anything, for my accountability partner, & to be a part of the online groups that I’m leading because they help keep me on track! And guess what else? None of these people I knew before, my accountability partner I didn’t know, yet they’re the most amazing group of people ever! People are losing the amount of weight I’ve lost (60 lbs) in just MONTHS, whereas it took me a little over a year because I didn’t have accountability or support. Your mind controls everything.

I took some extra time feeding my mind with positivity because we determine what thoughts come in to our minds & stay. Like Pastor Steven says, make a decision what you let in & out of your life so you don’t let certain thought patterns control your mind. I’m so thankful for my group & my Jesus today!! Your mind controls everything, feed it something positive.

In today’s video I wanted to address just how your mind controls everything. I actually made this video for my group, but wanted to share it with y’all as well icon smile Your Mind Controls Everything

So let’s watch today’s message on how your mind controls everything.
